When something happened.

Sometimes the decision isn't planned. A fall. A surgery. A parent coming home from the hospital in a week, and the stairs or the front steps are suddenly the problem you have to solve. Here is what can go in quickly and what can't.

What can go in soon, and what takes longer

Fastest first.

  • A wheelchair ramp — soonest. A modular wheelchair ramp is built to the height of your steps from standard parts, so it's one of the fastest things we install. Typical lead time about 1–2 weeks; installed in about 1–2 days. Often the right first move when someone is coming home soon.
  • A straight stairlift — soon, if your stairs are straight. A straight stairlift is a standardized unit. Typically in stock, or up to about two weeks; installed in about 1–2 days.
  • A curved stairlift — longer. The rail is measured and built to the exact shape of your staircase, so it can't go in this week. Typical lead time about 6–8 weeks; installed in about 1–2 days.
  • A platform lift — longer. A platform lift is ordered and sized to the two levels it connects. Typical lead time about 3–26 weeks depending on the model; installed in about 1–2 days.
  • A home elevator — built to order, and with extended lead times it's not the answer for a discharge happening this week. A home elevator is built to order, so it can't serve a discharge happening in days. If it's the right long-term answer for the house, we'll say so — and get you through the near term with a ramp or a straight stairlift first. Typical lead time: about 8–12 weeks for the equipment, then about 3–5 days to install.

If a fast option carries you now and a bigger one fits later, we'll lay out both.

If you're arranging this for a parent

A lot of these calls come from a son or daughter, often from out of town, trying to get a house ready before a parent gets home. You don't have to be there. We visit your parent's home, and you get the whole answer in writing — what fits, what it costs, and how soon — so you and your loved ones can decide together. Nobody follows up to lean on you.

Want the questions to ask before you sign anything? Take our checklist of what to ask any installer before you sign — the same questions we answer in writing.

Someone comes home from the hospital this week. What can you actually do?
For a timeline that short, a modular ramp or a straight stairlift is usually the answer — both are among the fastest things we install, and a straight stairlift is often in stock. We'll tell you the real timeline for yours in writing.
How soon can this go in?
That depends on the option and your calendar. Call or request a quote and we'll tell you what each really takes for your situation, and get moving on the one that fits.

Tell us what happened and what you're working against. You'll get a written quote with the price and the real timeline for the option that fits. Serving Louisiana and Alabama.
